International Conference of PhD students in the field of Visual Arts

”SIMPOZION”, 6th edition

20-21 June 2024

”SIMPOZION” Conference is an interaction platform dedicated to doctoral students in the field of Visual Arts from the universities and faculties of art and design, organized by the Doctoral School of Arts of the West University of Timișoara, Romania, part of the UNITA Alliance.

The broad spectrum of artistic research concerns, encompassing a variety of concepts, hypotheses, experiments, techniques or solutions, lead us to leave the thematic area unfettered so that all PhD students can share their own project. We therefore encourage a climate of expression and debate open to any research topics, manifested in the diversity of theoretical and practical forms and the exchange of ideas and best practices applicable to artistic research through art or about art.

PhD conference will take place in hybrid system: physical, at the Faculty of Arts and Design, str. Oituz no. 4, Timisoara (RO), Mansarda Gallery and on the Googlemeet platform. The registration will be done by filling in the data requested in the submission form below, mentioning the way of participation (physical or online).The conference program and the connection link on the online platform will be transmitted with the selection results comunication.

29th March 2024	Launching the call for participation.
1st – 24th of May 2024	Registration / Submission of title, author, abstract, short CV by e-mail: bogdan.matei@e-uvt.ro
31st of May 2024	Selection results, program display, online link.
20th-21st of June 2024	Conference session (physical and online)
5th of July 2024	Deadline for submission of the article in extenso for publication according to the attached rules.

Registration is based on a proposal that include:

• Summary of the paper (maximum 200 words in English):

– title

– name and surname of the author

– institutional affiliation (University, Doctoral School, PhD supervisors first/name, academic rank)

– 5 keywords (alphabetically ordered)

– selective bibliography

• Short CV (maximum 400 words)

The works of the conference will be published in extenso in a proceedings volume at the West University Publishing House of Timișoara and will be written in English. The sources will be cite in Chicago Style.
